2023: Year of Me.
2023 is going to be the year of me.
and by that i mean i am prioritizing all things to do with me. I am sticking to my morning routine, even if it has to be delayed if i sleep in later 2022 has taught me just how important starting my day off with healthy habits is. Some of non-negotiables have been some form of movement (could look like yoga or pilates or The Class or something more cardio based), meditation, leaving my room clean and bed made, and my green juice!
My day feels so off if I don’t move my body in the morning so it is something I am not sacrificing this year.
When talking to friends who aren’t necessarily ~morning people, they say the biggest barrier is waking up early. But waking up early is just like any other habit, do it more and more and the easier it becomes. Use the 3,2,1 rule. Set your alarm. Open your eyes when your alarm goes off. Count down from 3 to 1 then don’t think and just sit up and swing your feet over the bed. Time to start the day!
Being a morning person is something about me i love and i am going to talk more about it. Because it literally sets every day up for success. I am up and taking care of myself first thing in the morning and THEN i engage and start thinking about other people. Some might say I am rather bubbly in the morning and that isn’t everyones cup of tea, and i make a note of who, but i genuinely believe that you can elevate other people’s moods just by being a pleasant and friendly person. Asking how someones day is or their weekend goes a long way. and these little moments forge relationships with people.
I recently moved to a new city and I am just now starting to cultivate relationships with employees at local businesses simply by asking for their names and striking up a light hearted conversation. It really goes a long way.
This year, again while prioritizing myself, I am going to open myself up more to meeting new people. I think I have just started peeling back layers of limiting mentalities of mine. My gut intuition is telling me that creating new relationships is key here. I used to put on a mask for what I thought other people wanted me to be. and i sacrificed a lot of my authentic self to please others. The second half of 2022 really helped me accept that the only way I am going to live a fulfilling life is by being completely 100% unapologetically me.
That is why 2023 is the year of me. i am taking back my confidence and doing things i love. this platform is going to be a real outlet for me and I cannot wait to share what I learn, where I get stuck, and what i have been contemplating throughout the glorious year ahead.
