Choosing Place
The notion of having one “home” or place that feels like one has been something on my mind in recent weeks. My emotions change so much throughout the month and I find that I am extremely impacted by where I am. Environment. That has been a huge piece of the puzzle in understanding where I feel most like myself.
I have been back in my childhood home, my parents new home in a new state and my soon to be new home on the other side of the country. All places that truly feel like home. The place that has come to feel less like homes is actually where my current residence is. I didn’t choose the location out of my own desire to be there, I choose it for my career.
After just a quick trip to my new home state, California, I feel a strong sense of that is where I am meant to be. Constant sunshine, ocean waves lapping up on the sand, farm to table fresh foods, sunsets peering beyond the mountains, bountiful green hikes, people who want to breathe in all that life has to offer and so much more I discover around every corner. I adore it. It feels like me.
My spare time to be filled with fruitful exciting new fun activities revolving around PLAY!
Surf lessons, potluck dinners, sunrise hikes, sunset dips, farmers market galore, budding relationships, and the safety of slowly taking it all in.
A deep sense of growth is upon me. Expansion and trust. An honest belief that the universe has my back.
One of my yoga teachers words really stuck with me this morning, she said something along the lines of “Our outside shell is quiet, inside of us is where the noise is“. Which is completely contradictory to what we think. We see the world as a noisy busy place, when in reality the way our body shows up is a quiet exterior. Our skin is set, we don’t see all the behind the scenes of our digestive system digesting the food we just ate, or our minds processing what we are seeing through our eyes and trying to make sense of it. That is all happening inside of us, where no one can see. But we can feel it. And it is with that information that we quiet those things and synthesize so that we can show up in the world in a quiet and together manner. How beautiful. We are so much smarter than we give ourselves credit for.
Another piece of my life I have been appreciating more is matcha. High quality matcha with high quality homemade nut milks. When visiting my new home I discovered this wonderful coconut milk stand at the farmers market. Truly the best milk I have ever tasted. Tahitian vanilla coconut milk. I made a matcha the following morning en route to yoga and it was a major bliss point. Products made with love taste that much better. Matcha drank outside tastes even that much better. Drinking a green beverage surrounded by green shrubs, and cacti, and trees and flowers, it is grounding. Same goes for buying a drink at a cafe. You can tell when it is made with love and intention. I had a wonderful strawberry matcha from Moon Juice. Pictured above. How luxurious and what a treat to what I normally would not make at home. Savored every sip while walking on the beach, to yoga, again.
